Email is the best way to request a correction or update.
Sunday nights are busy, and it can be difficult to keep track of roster changes, scoring issues, or other requests mentioned in passing at the lanes. Sending an email to the Secretary gives us a record of what needs to be addressed and helps make sure your request does not get missed.
Scores, Names & Roster Corrections
GBL does not directly enter or control the information shown on LeagueSecretary or the bowling alley scoring screens. East Providence Lanes maintains those records based on information provided by GBL.
If you notice a scoring issue, incorrect player or team name, or another roster problem, please email the GBL Secretary. We send an updated roster to the bowling alley Wednesday night, so corrections and roster changes should be submitted before then whenever possible.
Corrections received after Wednesday may not be reflected in LeagueSecretary or at the lanes that Sunday. Updates may also take additional time to appear because EPL maintains those systems.
Pre-Bowls
If you pre-bowl, please email your scores to the Secretary after you bowl. Occasionally there can be issues with a pre-bowl being recorded or entered correctly by the bowling alley. Having your scores on file with GBL gives us the information we need to help resolve a problem if one comes up.
When emailing a pre-bowl, please include your name, team, the week you are pre-bowling for, and a photo showing all three game scores.
Pacers & Substitutes
Everyone who bowls with GBL must complete league registration, including pacers and substitutes who are only bowling for one night. There are no exceptions. Please complete registration before arriving at the lanes.
Pacers and substitutes must also check in with the Secretary before bowling. If the Secretary is unavailable, check in with another Board member. We will confirm your lane assignment or provide one if needed.
Vacancies, Absences & Leaves
GBL continues to recruit new bowlers and place them on teams with openings, but teams with vacancies are encouraged to help find bowlers to fill those spots as well. While GBL will help with recruitment and placement, we cannot guarantee that every vacancy will be filled immediately.
If you will miss a week, please let your Captain know. For routine one-week absences, your Captain should be your first point of contact. Captains should also keep their team informed about expected absences.
If you expect to miss two or more consecutive weeks, please also let the Secretary know so we can keep the active roster accurate and determine whether any roster or leave-of-absence action is needed.
For longer absences, GBL’s Leave of Absence Policy applies. A leave is for a minimum of four weeks and requires notice to the Secretary at least one week before the leave begins.
Bowlers who are absent for more than two weeks without notice and have unpaid league dues may be removed from the active roster.
